As some of you know, I lost my job a while ago, and haven’t been able to find a new one. This autumn I was also diagnosed with diabetes and Hasimotos disease, on top of my already existing conditions, which means even more medication and new special dietary needs. These past two months have been a bitch, to put it mildly. I’ve been forced to sublet my flat for a year, and move back in with my parents. At 36 it’s not an ideal situation, even though I am very grateful that I have family that will help me. In the middle of all this my sister in law’s father died, a close family friend who was only one year older than me also passed away suddenly, my grandmother had a heart attack and although she recovered (thank god) it was a really hard time. Also, one of the family cats had kittens (as I have no doubt you’ve all seen), one of which we had to bottle feed every other hour 24/7. Miranda passed away two days ago. During all this, I’ve also had to make the moving from my flat and cleaning it out happen, mostly by train as, the family was busy with everything else that’s been going on. I haven’t slept more than an hour a night for almost two months, I’ve cried so much my eyes hurt and I’m completely dehydrated and I have bruises all over my body from carrying and pushing things around. I haven’t been able to breathe and I’ve just wanted to give up completely, at least once a day, five times a night.
Long story short: it’s all been shit.
Hopefully the worst is over now though. Gran’s home from the hospital and doing better. I have cleaned out the flat and turned over the keys. Miranda’s still gone and it breaks my heart every time I think of her, but the other three kittens are doing great. I have managed to get rid of most of my costs, by renting out the flat, and I luckily get some things for free by living with the parents, but some things remain. And this is why I’m making this post. I need money for my medicine, remaining bills and train tickets to occassionaly get back into town. Also, as I’ve recently lost 40 lbs, a few clothing items would be needed, but not absolutely necessary.
I’m opening up comissions (of sorts), and also taking special orders on crocheted animals/figures or whatever you want. Just a few things: You might be aware that I have an Etsy shop - this is not it. In the Etsy shop I have two co-workers, this is me alone, in private. I can therefore not use the yarn and stuff we’ve bought for the company, but I have a huge stash of my own and all trimmings and stuff I need for a figure is also bought privately.
Examples of crochet:
I am currently working on a red Smaug version of the dragon and a polar bear in about the same size.
(also, the sheep in the bg)
Examples of drawings:
A dragon like the one in the picture is ca 30 cm long and would be around $65, not including postage. The cake would be $30 and the bunny or the sheep $38. The bird and other smaller animals from $25. All requests are welcome.
Drawings $20-50, depending on what you want and how complicated.
I kind of want to put up a donate button as well, but I don’t know if I’m allowed? The paypal text is very confusing, and it has to be for a cause. Can I be a cause? Am I?
Does anyone have any experience with this? Halp?
Send me an ask if you have questions or suggestions (
or if you want to give me a job - that’d be the best). Even if you don’t want to, or can’t commission anything yourself, a reblog would be greatly appreciated.
ETA: Donation button up on the blog now. Thank you so much everyone for the help with that.
